When you begin to refer to cabinetry you are basically making decisions about storage of your belongings. What items do you need everyday? Once a week? Or once a month? And where in the house do you need the storage. The most common areas being the kitchen, bathrooms, closets, foyers, hallways, dining room, family room, laundry room, garage and basements. Cabinets come in a vast variety of shapes, finishes, styles and options. And are produced from your local cabinet shop to manufacturers from all parts of the world. There are basically two styles of cabinetry, framed and frameless. Framed cabinets are what is usually called traditional style cabinets that have a full frame across the face of the cabinet box. Framed cabinets can be purchased inexpensive in a ready-made cabinet directly from manufacturers stock in finished form, unfinished form, or as what is called a knockdown form. Framed cabinets can be purchased in a semi expensive, semi custom cabinet to a very expensive custom made cabinet.

Custom made cabinets can be purchased from a large manufacturer or you can have them built to specifications of your room size by your local cabinet shop. Frameless cabinets, better known as European style cabinets are built without a face frame. Domestic and European manufacturers offer frameless cabinets. The materials used to build cabinets may be solid wood and plywood, wood and particleboard, wood and hardboard, or all particleboard. Cabinets are manufactured basically three ways which are stock, semi-custom and custom. Stock cabinets are limited to the styles and colors of the manufacturer. As well as the quality which will usually be fair, good or excellent. And this to will determine the price. Stock cabinets range in price from inexpensive to moderate sometimes just by the manufacturer. Semi-custom cabinets are available in specific sizes just like stock cabinets. But there are many more finishes, colors, styles and special accessories to choose from than stock cabinets have to offer. Delivery time of these cabinets is usually longer than stock cabinets. Custom cabinets are usually built to the measurements of a project. Custom cabinets are usually made in a local cabinet shop. These type of cabinets are made from scratch and usually take a month to four months to make. There usually are no limitations to type, color, style and features specified. The price of these cabinets is usually moderate to very expensive.
