Mares & Dow Construction & Skylights, Inc. is a longstanding partnership of 40 years between Archie Mares, Dennis Dow and hundreds of great customers throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. We are a general contractor, building custom homes, additions, home remodeling, skylights, retaining wall construction and commercial remodeling.

Maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction, we are proud to have provided our customers throughout the San Francisco Bay Area with quality construction and home improvement services for 40 years.  With half of our new clients coming to us from referrals, it’s no secret that our customers/friends are truly pleased with the work we do.

Archie Mares

Archie provides a wealth of experience and knowledge directly to the home owner. He is an electrician and lighting expert with extensive experience in home, restaurant, commercial construction projects. Archie has a fervor for continuing education to maintain and develop his knowledge of all aspects of the current industry in design, architecture and building.

Archie attained a BA degree from Sacramento State College. Archie began his construction career while attending college and working for Maher Construction and working on concrete sidewalks, flatwork, retaining walls, concrete foundations and commercial concrete buildings. Archie took his construction aspiration’s into the electrical trade and became an electrician and served as a electrician and foreman for 8 years before starting Mares & Dow Construction & Skylights with his partner of 40 years Dennis Dow.

Dennis Dow

Dennis provides a solid directional path for each construction project in the firm. He oversees the planning and team management to complete every job on time and within budgetary guidelines. Dennis is a carpenter by trade and uses his specialized knowledge to build new homes, home remodeling and  commercial projects from the foundation to the roof tops.

Dennis is a Veteran of the United States Navy. Dennis attended Junior College and attained a AA degree. Dennis completed carpenter’s apprentice  program and served as a carpenter for 4 years. For the following 10 years Dennis served as a foreman and superintendent for a General Contractor Builder before starting Mares & Dow Construction & Skylights with his partner of 40 years Archie Mares.
